Chelsea In Bloom

Chelsea lovers are invited to feast their eyes on a decadent, irresistible display seen across the façade of …At Sloane, in the heart of Chelsea.

Titled ‘Ma Cerise’, meaning ‘my cherry’ in French, the design features rich blends of velvet carnations, in hues that are reminiscent of the finest Bordeaux, artfully arranged to create an alluring image of voluptuous cherries. The cherry was selected because it is symbolic of love, being a ripe, sensuous and irresistible fruit. Constructed using natural moss, the cherries range in size, with some being up to 1 metre, set to be hung from ornate stalks made from clematis vine with copper gilding. The entire design combines discreet British charm with timeless luxury and Parisian flair, in the same way that the hotel itself does, offering guests an experience akin to staying in an art collector’s chic private home.

The impressive structural make-up and the deep, decadent colour scheme for this display has been developed by the famous Wild at Heart expert florist designer, specifically to complement …At Sloane’s stand-out interiors. References to the rich, lush palette of crimsons and burgundies hidden inside (as seen in the sultry Chartres-stained glass windows, the elaborate textiles and the eclectic collection of objets d’art) can be seen in this unique and enticing Chelsea in Bloom display.

Celebrating intimacy and playfulness, this luscious interpretation of ‘Floral Feasts’ puts temptation and seduction at the forefront. Decadence is in the detail, as it is inside …At Sloane, for all those in the know who visit. The same playfulness can be experienced inside the hotel, which has been refined with couples in mind. ‘Love’ lighting at the touch of a button, walls featuring romantic trysts in black-and-white photo form, bespoke curated libraries in each room, and Pillow Talk cards decks make for a truly seductive stay.

Transporting you into a whimsical realm, the installation at 11 Cadogan Gardens features bees delicately feasting on a bountiful array of vibrant flowers.

Enchanting bee-friendly gardens surround the stunning Queen Bee throne, the perfect photo spot. A beautiful meadow-scape of plants and flowers flanks the steps leading to the throne, while a natural half-arch of bee-friendly flowers, plants, and honeycombs – filled with delicious floral honey – welcomes guests at the entrance. A swarm of bees flies off from the throne towards a hanging beehive, dripping towards a honey pot, completing the enchanting scene. Discreetly nestled among the plants are pollen-spreading insects like snails and butterflies, adding to the natural beauty.

Our display not only showcases the intricate relationship between pollinators bees and flowers and the harmonious symphony of nature’s beauty but also underscores the critical importance of bees in the world. Bees are essential for pollinating the crops that produce our food and maintaining the health of our natural ecosystems.

Join us to marvel at this mesmerizing celebration of nature and gain a deeper appreciation for the intricate dance of pollinators and flowers that sustains life on Earth.NB: Our display uses responsibly sourced flowers and plants supported by biodegradable floral foam that’s sustainable, while also supporting local and small artisan businesses wherever possible. Amaffi

Chelsea in Bloom

In response to the brief ‘Floral Feasts’, Neill Strain was inspired by the ultra-romantic and gentle notes of Amaffi’s stunning Aphrodita fragrance and the Grecian Flower Festival, Anthestiria to create a luxurious Greek God’s flower feast.

The ancient festival of Anthestiria was held in honour of Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure. This three-day festival was also considered a celebration of souls, plants and flowers during which the re-birth of man and nature were celebrated.

In Paphos, Anthesteria also includes celebrations in honour of the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, who, according to the myth, was born from the foam of the sea not far from the city. A personification of love, Aphrodita envelopes the wearer in rose centifolia, magnificent peony and patchouli. Fresh flowers are the heart of Neill’s floral sculpture, which has unmistakable Grecian influences.

The design focuses on a Life size sculpture of Aphrodite, graceful in white and gold, she’s lifted from the perfume’s bottle, gliding elegantly through the vibrant, fragrant fresh blooms.
Two stone Greek urns with fresh Olives trees are umbrellaed by a floral garland of approximately.
12m in length. The garland will incorporate roses, Spray roses, Dianthus, Anthuriums, Amaranthus, and Achillea with accents of Mediterranean foliage and fruits.
The floral garland will grow from the floor surrounding the urns and trees, up and over to the other side of the window and around the Aphrodite statue.
The soft, warm tonal palette of the blooms incorporates hues of pinks, oranges and yellows which are striking against the lush greens of the foliage – a sun setting over Mediterranean olive groves.

Known for their non-traditional aesthetic, LADYGARDEN takes pride in testing the boundaries of what is perceived as floristry.  For the ‘Floral Feasts’ theme, they are creating a series of oversized summer strawberry sculptures in the Anthropologie Kings Road store windows, named: ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’. Birley Bakery

Flowers are a “Feast for the Bees” and this floral feast features Birley Bakery Bees feasting on the flowers. Our message is to highlight the importance of bees, show bee friendly flowers, to educate about honeybees, and promote environmental sustainability.

3 stunning honeycomb towers hold English flowers that make the honey, rising from fantasy beehives. Small worker bees buzz around the towers, busying around yellow craspedia flowers representing the nectar which helps make the honey.

In the windows we will hang Bee “crests” which feature a fantasy flower of dried flowers, with a characterful bee feeding on the pollen. At the top of the crest, a crown, inspired by “Queen Bee” will be filled with over spilling bee friendly flowers.

Chef Vincent Zanardi of Birley Bakery is creating a baked goodie which will also celebrate bees – A delicious honey themed cake in the shape of a honeycomb. We are recycling props as used last year to create the main structure of the display. We are using English flowers from Stokesay Flower Garden in Shropshire. All the materials used in this display will be recycled or reused, with any lasting flowers being sent to Floral Angels, and The Confetti Club.

Brora

Chelsea in Bloom

Since Brora was founded 31 years ago, we have conjured up every sense-evoking colour name in our vocabulary for our cashmere, cotton and linen clothing, often inspired by food, botanicals and the natural world. So ‘Floral Feasts’ suits our collections to a tee – particularly our SS ranges where flower, fruit and food-y names are in abundance. This season’s palette of rhubarb, cherry, chocolate and sherbet evoke nostalgic trips to the sweetshop. Prints such as ‘nettle botanical’ and ‘mimosa bloom’ stir up memories of hazy summer tea parties in the garden.

At Brora we are fanatical about using natural fibres so ensuring our display matches our sustainable and ethical values is vital. A canopy of dried mimosa sets the scene. Accents and sprays of uplifting yellow and fresh white blooms such as sunflowers, roses, peonies and the dappled tones of hydrangea symbolise stripey sherbet sweets. A hint of dark pink is the ode to cherry drops and summer puddings with mint and camomile added to represent your choice of tea! Fancy a cup?

Sherbet lemons and minty refreshments will be on offer, while 10% of our in-store sales of clothing with food-inspired colour names, will be given to the charity The Felix Project for the duration of our ‘Sweets and Treats Tea Party’ window.

Imagine a delicious and dazzling floral feast, fit for San Gennaro himself, where the table overflows with a lavish display of botanical delights. At the centre, a terracotta pot blooms with a lively lemon tree, its branches laden with bright citrus fruits—an homage to the patron saint of Naples and Little Italy, New York.

Surrounding this verdant centrepiece are ornamental cabbages and artichokes, transformed into edible masterpieces, teasing the eye with their vibrant colours and intricate textures—a nod to the Neapolitan and Italian-American heritage celebrated during the San Gennaro Festival. Amaranthus cascades like strands of spaghetti, adding a playful twist to the tableau, while succulents peek out from between the leaves, hinting at secret flavours and textures waiting to be discovered. Carnations, not just for show, offer a surprising burst of floral essence when sampled.

The air is alive with the scents of potted herbs—basil, rosemary, and thyme infusing the scene with a tantalizing aroma, reminiscent of the festival’s joyful atmosphere. Amidst this floral symphony, imagine the distant strains of Italian singing, echoing the spirit of celebration. Meanwhile, Mama’s cooking, with all its comforting and nostalgic flavours, seems to weave itself into the very fabric of this fantastical spread. To complete this enchanting tableau, a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables adds a touch of whimsy, with their shapes and colours mirroring the natural beauty of the floral arrangement. As you feast your eyes on this opulent lush floral banquet, let your imagination roam and your taste bud’s tingle. This is not just a meal for sustenance but a culinary adventure, a celebration of nature’s bounty and cultural heritage in the most delightful and unexpected forms. Inspired by ancient myths, the pomegranate tree holds a sacred place in the folklore of various cultures. It was often considered a divine plant, believed to be planted by gods or goddesses or to have sprouted from the blood of mythical or heroic figures. In ancient symbolism, the pomegranate fruit was regarded as a symbol of reproduction and love. According to ancient legends, this tree emerged from the blood of Orestes and was sometimes called Rimmon, a young dying god, in some regions of ancient Asia. In Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the goddess of love, planted a pomegranate tree on the island of Cyprus. From the blood of the giant Porphyrion (also known as Bacchus in some myths), the pomegranate tree arose. This myth recalls the Persian legend of ‘Siavashan’, as mentioned by Ferdowsi, where the Tree grew from the spilt blood of Siavash. Pomegranate seeds have become a widespread symbol of fertility and abundance across Mediterranean societies, the Near East, India, and beyond. The pomegranate was emblematic of the Greek goddesses Demeter, Persephone, and Hera, and it was associated with sexual awakening and fertility. Before leaving the underworld (Hades), Persephone was given a pomegranate seed, symbolising her cyclical return to the underworld and the dual nature of death and rebirth.

This vibrant scene encapsulates our commitment to putting people first and supporting local communities. “Give a dog a beautiful bone”

We are celebrating a floral feast for dogs by creating a beautiful giant bone adorned with dog safe, edible flowers. Watching over the bone is a stone dog adorned with a garland of nutritious flowers and vegetables for dogs. At the end of Chelsea in bloom the vegetables will be lightly cooked and purée for dogs in our cafe, the moss and flowers will be composted and reused for planting in our rooftop sensory garden at our LMH pup club daycare.

Chelsea in Bloom

As an Italian brand, we have chosen to create a whimsical homage to Italy’s culinary heritage, reimagined in a larger-than-life floral spectacle. A cascade of twisting bamboo, vibrant blooms of trailing Amaranthus and textural celosia mimics a floral feast of blossoming spaghetti and meatballs with lush green herb detailing – while choosing seasonal flowers and foliage to celebrate nature’s beauty at its best. As menswear specialists, we wanted to create a display that was bold and sculptural, in keeping with our mid-century modern aesthetics, whilst still fully embracing the Chelsea in Bloom spirit.

With sustainability at the forefront of our concept, we are not using any floral foam and instead have opted for reusable mesh as a structure for our display. All the organic waste from our installation will be composted at the end of the event and not sent to landfill. The bamboo will be repurposed and reused, and we have avoided using materials that are not compostable, recyclable, or reusable.

We chose to partner with Blooming Haus as they are the first European B Corp certified event florist, striving to use sustainable practices both on site and in their studio. All the power used within the studio where the majority of the flower work has taken place is run on 100% green energy and all the delivery vehicles are electric.  Our unique floral installation is not just a celebration of our Italian roots but also a testament to a shared commitment between ourselves and Blooming Haus to preserving our environment. We invite our local community to experience the delightful convergence of Italian tradition and modern sustainability initiatives in our striking floral display, a true feast for the eyes.

Lululemon

This arrangement is brought to life by Zoe Greenfield, a floral designer from Yorkshire whose vision is to share the beauty of the natural world—without hindering it.

Zoe takes inspiration from her surrounding landscapes, using only sustainable methods for her creations. This year, her lululemon entry celebrates all the things that bring her joy; one of which is movement.

The aim is to create a piece of floral artwork that releases dopamine into the brain and makes us feel good: a similar sensation to the joy we feel when we move our bodies—of which lululemon is a huge advocate.

As this year’s theme is Floral Feast, Zoe invites you to discover the abundance of lemons entangled within this piece: a feast for our eyes that symbolises the arrival of brighter, days.

Maje’s showcase for the Floral Feast theme is inspired by a journey to the heart of Jiayi Li’s universe, which draws a lush, fantasized nature.

We chose to work with Chloe Ward from Floral Roots, who specializes in creating spectacular floral arrangements with a fun, whimsical touch. The window set up is done by Harlequin.

The idea is taken from the Museum’s collection of ration tins sent to soldiers on the front lines during the First World War.

Set on a bed of meadow grass – a ‘ration box drop’ designed with a large stamped crate to portray a great visual and understanding of the products & items within. We will enhance this with a bottle of rum, a tin of tea, canned Spam or such along with that all important Kendal Mint cake.

When Cornish barber William Penhaligon boarded a train to London to pursue his dreams, little did he know the fragrant legacy he was about to create. Paying homage to our founder’s roots, the window – a collaboration between Penhaligon’s and botanic sculptor Hamish Powell – was inspired by the classic Cornish cream tea. Textured, toasty-toned carnations are accessorised by dried brown flowers to form the scones, while a palette of white and cream flowers such as carnations and gerbera daisies create a light and fluffy cream filling. As for the jam? Red anthuriums provide a glossy texture as the flower’s spadix mimics a strawberry seed. Now, we’re sure William would have preferred his scone the Cornish way… but how do you take yours?

This year we are extremely happy to be working with Sarah Feather again on our Chelsea in Bloom windows. Our concept this year focuses on launching a John Lewis high street, delving into the history of our partner business Waitrose and our Leckford Farming estate. Alongside this we are very excited to be collaborating with Emma Bridgewater and David Austin Roses to add an additional high street store to our windows. The windows will see us launch a general store, haberdashery and Tea Room encapsulating the history of John Lewis as a whole, from food and drink, growth and farming, creative skills and exciting exclusive partnerships. We will be looking back through the archives to develop historical logos and prints to add to the scheme. Alongside this, Emma Bridgewater and David Austin will be making an appearance in at the window showcase through the CIB week.

Our windows are also huge on sustainability this year with the below elements:

– We are using wool direct from our Leckford sheep in replacement of moss

– Plants, herbs and food will be borrowed from Leckford anything not suitable for sale after the windows will be donated to food kitchens – We are borrowing all award-winning roses from David Austin and they will be handed back after the windows.

Chelsea in Bloom

Despite London having a population of nearly nine million people, it remains a green city with almost half (48 per cent) surfaced in vegetation, rivers and still waters.  Incredibly biodiverse, London supports natural spaces and habitats as well as 14,000 species of wildlife.

There’s one species in particular that has made its home in the city and is not only surviving but thriving – the urban fox. Foxes have been present in London since the end of the First World War but their numbers have truly rocketed in the past 30 years. The London Wildlife Trust estimates there are now over 10,000 foxes living in the capital, feasting on discarded takeaways, frolicking in floral gardens and waking us up with their screeching nocturnal mating call.

For our store and window display, we wanted to celebrate the wildlife on our doorstep. Often vilified as aggressive and cunning, foxes are actually gentle animals who pose little or no danger to humans. In fact, there’s a mutual partnership in play with humans providing food and shelter in return for foxes keeping pests at bay. Fifty per cent of an urban fox’s feast is natural foods: worms, fruits, birds, rats and mice. They have a vital role in the ecosystem — take foxes out of the equation and London’s rodent population will boom. At Poetry, we’re committed to making clothes with minimal impact on the planet. We use only natural fabrics, supporting the use of renewable resources and the growth of millions of plants. We’re working, in the same spirit as the fox has adapted so well to the city, to create a sustainable relationship between commerce and nature.

Russell & Bromley

To celebrate Chelsea in Bloom’s ‘Floral Feasts’ theme, Russell & Bromley are transforming their King’s Road store into a sweet space inspired by honey. British spring honey is harvested from mid-to-late May, so perfect timing for Chelsea in Bloom.

The scene is set outside their store with columns of beautiful wildflowers, bold beehives structures, angular honeycomb inspired shapes and bee-friendly plants growing from the entrance. Stacks of golden honey pots will glisten in the sunlight through their store’s windows, bringing a warm summer glow and encompassing a sense of honey feasting.

A colour palette of sunny yellows, elevated whites, and muted greens and oranges, add an uplifting brightness and summery honey glow. Intertwining pollinators and insect friendly flowers, including Ammi, lavender, chamomile, and calendula create the standout installation – not only beautiful, but also supporting the preservation of British bees.

Bee keeping and honey making was a big part of former Russell & Bromley chairman, Michael C Bromley’s life and he has fond memories of days enjoying this craft. So, the installation not only showcases a glorious feast of sweet honey inside and out, but also nods to Russell & Bromley’s connection to British bee keeping and honey making.

Visitors and customers will be encouraged to explore the stand-out display in all its glory, inside and out. Customers will receive a free Russell & Bromley tote bag, plus a little sweet surprise with their in-store purchases.  Russell & Bromley are also donating their leftover petals and remaining flowers to Confetti Club, a wonderful charity who dry fresh petals and sell them as confetti to raise funds for cancer charities

Strathberry have taken inspiration for the 2024 windowscape from their close relationship with Dumfries House. This is the third year Strathberry has supported the charity program ‘field to fork’ which provides children with an introduction to gardening, food production and the use of fresh produce as a route to eating well. To celebrate their fantastic work, we have selected florals that mirror the fruit and vegetable gardens at Dumfries House, bringing the Scottish countryside to London’s Kings Road for the week. Strathberry are honoured to highlight His Majesty The King’s philosophy on harmony: “by understanding the balance, the order and the relationships between ourselves and the natural world we can create a more sustainable future”.  This philosophy closely aligns with Strathberry’s aim to be a blueprint for heartfelt luxury: generous to the people, communities and nature that supports us.  The Chelsea in Bloom 2024 theme of ‘Floral Feast’ gives us the opportunity to showcase the relationship we have with the natural world and our responsibility to create a sustainable future.  The florals in our windowscape tie in with our AW24 collection with tones of warm Marmalade and fresh, tranquil Peony.  We are excited to be working with ‘The Juicing Co’ – a Scottish juicing company based in Aberdeenshire, who have created a “Strathberry in Bloom” juice that is a special recipe based on the fruits and vegetables grown at Dumfries House.  If you find yourself in the Kings Road Strathberry Boutique, be sure to sample our freshly pressed bloom!

The installation will include a bespoke lemon tree on one side of the entrance underplanted with a meadow of daisies, plants that can also be eaten and classified as medicinal herbs. We intend to source a selection of plants to create our meadow with chamomile, Tanacetum, oxeye, Margherita, erigeron, leucanthemum. Steeped in history and tradition, The Capital Hotel’s afternoon tea has long been a beloved ritual for guests and dignitaries alike. Notably, the late Queen herself once graced the hotel with her presence for an Afternoon Tea in 2009, a testament to its unparalleled hospitality and impeccable service. Unlike the Mad Hatter Tea Party, it is served all afternoon and not just six o’clock!

The Capital Hotel: Situated in the heart of London’s prestigious Knightsbridge, is renowned for its timeless elegance, seamless service, and extraordinary Afternoon Tea experience. With a rich history dating back decades, the hotel continues to uphold its reputation as a haven of luxury and sophistication.

Using food as our guide, we lead you through a cornucopia of indulgent colours, textures, and smells that are a feast for the eye and the senses. Our story begins in the classic kitchen, inspired by Classical still life paintings, with evocative elements such as traditional copper pots, pans, and utensils, alongside stoneware crockery and wooden market crates surrounded by a colourful assortment of fruits, bundles of root vegetables, and growing herbs and leaves. This montage fills one side of a vintage table underneath the corresponding side of the canopy, which is bursting with hanging vines of fruit and vegetables to evoke the marketplace. The table is separated by an arch covered in a mix of vine fruits and mixed florals leading to the Banquet side.

This table mise-en-place will be packed with beautiful crockery and overflowing with vases and urns full of flowers, featuring a giant shell floral centrepiece, with the canopy above overflowing with hanging mixed florals and foliage. All framed by lemon and citrus trees with baskets of edible and mixed flowers.

As the soft wind blows, cotton fields engulf a stylish dining table, dressed with products from our current home collection.  Gestural florals will be displayed amongst beautiful vases to create the perfect setting within which a floral feast can manifest.  Conjuring the spirit of the season, white natural textures will be paired sensitively against beautiful, dried tones to ensure a timeless and ethereal quality is created, befitting of a celebration of 30 years of white.  Suspended above and displayed both internally and externally of the store window, a sun-bleached cloud rambles with organic delight.  Incorporating the brand within the scenography, we bring the spirit of the season alive and encourage visitors and guests alike to be inspired by the spirit of summer.  Families and friends join to create memories amongst the countryside.  From relaxed garden suppers to sundowners during golden hour, here comes the sun!

Chelsea in Bloom

Step into a world of elegance and craftsmanship at the Walpole head office for Chelsea in Bloom, where our dramatic floral archway welcomes you with breathtaking splendour. Embracing the theme of ‘Floral Feasts,’ our display, titled ‘Grapevine Grandeur,’ pays homage to the beauty and artistry of English sparkling wine. Inspired by Walpole’s dedication to representing British luxury, our design features nods to the Walpole custom-designed motif by Cole & Sons wallpapers. Celebrating artisanal craft, the archway showcases English country foliage, luxurious red roses, and clusters of grapes, symbolising the origins of sparkling wine. The inclusion of red roses holds historical significance, dating back to the Tudor Monarchy and now serving as England’s national flower. Crafted from sustainable materials such as fresh branches and reusable chicken wire, our foam-free design embodies our commitment to environmental responsibility whilst highlighting the beauty of British foliage.

The idea for the display will be to use some plants branches and flowers from plants which are edible or have culinary uses of some kind. Mary is interested in using plant and flower material and ornamental vegetables to create the Floral Feast.

Outside the shop to the left of the door will be a ‘tree ‘made from magnolia branches, beech and loquat leaves foraged from Mary’s own garden, adorned with fantasy fruits made from pom-poms of flowers hung from the branches. The base of the mini suspended displays will be made from Agra-Wool in chicken wire cages to keep the flowers hydrated. Some of the forms will be made from leaves and herbs.

There will be a continuation of the tree inside the shop above the hanging rail on the left-hand side, on the inside above the entrance, continuing to the right above the mannequin in the window. The display will incorporate the colourful floral dresses of the Wyse SS24 Collection.

All the plant material used will be recyclable. Any small touches of gilding will be hand applied real gold or copper leaf, also recyclable.  All plants and flowers will be secured with thin plain floral wire.
